A basic wireless Ajax system for a 3-bedroom home typically starts around $800–$1,200 installed. Larger homes, commercial sites or systems with monitoring will vary. We give you a fixed written quote after a free site visit — no surprises.
Do I need to pay for the Ajax app?
No — the Ajax app is completely free on iOS and Android. There's no monthly cloud fee to arm and disarm or receive alerts. You only pay if you choose to add 24/7 professional monitoring.
What's the difference between Ajax and a regular alarm?
Traditional alarms make noise but don't tell you anything useful. Ajax combines instant smartphone alerts, photo verification, anti-jamming and encrypted communication — it's a complete smart security platform, not just a noise maker.
Will my pets set the alarm off?
No. MotionProtect detectors can be set to ignore animals up to 20kg, and we tune the sensitivity on site around your pets. For larger dogs we position detectors to cover doors and windows rather than open floor space.
What happens if the alarm goes off while I'm out?
The sirens sound, and within 0.15 seconds your phone gets an alert with a photo from the detector that fired, so you can see whether it is a real break-in. On monitoring, Alarm Watch is notified at the same moment and responds.
Can I self-monitor or do I need a monitoring company?
Both work great with Ajax. Self-monitor entirely through the app with push notifications the moment anything triggers. Or connect to Alarm Watch for 24/7 professional monitoring where trained operators respond if you can't be reached.
What happens if the internet or power goes out?
The hub has an internal battery providing up to 16 hours of backup. If your internet drops, the built-in SIM card takes over automatically, keeping your alerts and monitoring connection alive.
Can the Ajax DoorBell work as a standalone intercom?
Yes — DoorBell works as a standalone Wi-Fi video doorbell out of the box. Paired with an Ajax hub, it gets cellular fallback and integrates fully with your alarm system for a complete security setup.
