Ajax Hub 2 Plus
Auckland

The hub is the part of the system nobody thinks about until it matters. It's the brain that talks to every detector, decides what counts as an alarm, and gets that alarm out — even when the power and internet are down.

Why the hub is the decision that matters

Detectors are cheap to change. The hub isn't.

Adding another motion sensor later is easy. Discovering two years in that your control panel can't take any more devices, can't reach the far end of the property, or has no way of getting a signal out when the internet drops — that's the expensive discovery.

The hub sets the ceiling on everything the system can ever do. It's worth understanding what you're getting before the quote, not after.

What the Hub 2 Plus does

The brain of the system

Up To 200 Devices

One hub scales to as many as 200 connected devices, so the system grows with the property instead of hitting a wall at the second extension.

Range Up To 2,000m

Ajax's Jeweller radio protocol reaches up to 2,000 metres in open conditions — enough for large sections, sheds and outbuildings on one system.

16 Hours Of Backup Power

An internal battery keeps the hub running through a power cut, so an outage doesn't quietly leave the property unprotected.

Cellular Failover

If your internet drops, the built-in SIM takes over automatically and keeps alerts and the monitoring connection alive. No action needed from you.

Anti-Jamming

The hub switches frequency automatically if it detects jamming, rather than simply going quiet the way an unprotected radio system would.

Encrypted Communication

Two-way encrypted communication at every step, between every device and the hub, in both directions.

The bit people underestimate

Two failures at once is the normal case

Power cuts and internet outages aren't independent events — a storm that takes the power out often takes the connection with it, and that's exactly the night you want the alarm working. A hub with battery backup but no cellular path is still offline. A hub with cellular but no battery is still dead.

The Hub 2 Plus covers both: up to 16 hours of internal battery, and an automatic switch to the built-in SIM when the internet path fails. That combination is the actual reason to care which hub is on your wall.

What it connects to

One hub, one app, one system

Motion & Photo Detectors

Including MotionCam, which takes a burst of photos the moment an alarm fires so you can see what actually triggered it.

Door & Glass Sensors

DoorProtect and GlassProtect cover entry points and windows, reporting back to the same hub and the same app.

Fire & Flood

FireProtect and LeaksProtect bring smoke, heat rise and water detection into the same system rather than a separate one.

Sirens & Keypads

HomeSiren, StreetSiren and KeyPad Plus — internal and external sounders and a wall keypad for people who don't want to use a phone.

Video Doorbell

The Ajax DoorBell puts your front door in the same app, with the hub as its fallback connection if Wi-Fi drops.

Wired Devices Too

Ajax hubs can run Fibra wired detectors alongside wireless ones, so a site isn't locked into one or the other.

How we install it

Four steps, no surprises

1

Free Site Assessment

Joe visits, identifies the risks, and works out where the hub should live — signal, power, and somewhere an intruder doesn't reach first.

2

Clear Upfront Quote

Written and itemised per device, so you can see what the hub costs, what each detector costs, and what you could add later.

3

Professional Installation

Hub mounted and powered, every device paired and walk-tested, and the cellular and network paths both confirmed working.

4

Handover & Training

App set up for everyone who needs it, access levels configured, and you shown how to arm, disarm and read the event log.

FAQ

Common questions

The hub has an internal battery providing up to 16 hours of backup, so a power cut doesn't stop the system. If the internet drops, the built-in SIM card takes over automatically and keeps your alerts and monitoring connection alive. Both paths are tested at installation, not assumed.

Up to 200 devices, with a wireless range of up to 2,000 metres in open conditions. In practice that means most homes and a great many commercial sites run comfortably on a single hub, with room to add later without replacing anything.

The Ajax app is free on iOS and Android, and there's no monthly cloud fee to arm, disarm or receive alerts. You only pay ongoing if you choose 24/7 professional monitoring, which is optional rather than required.

Ajax has anti-jamming built in — the system switches frequency automatically if it detects interference, and communication between devices and the hub is encrypted in both directions. Jamming becomes an event the system reports rather than a silence you don't notice.

Somewhere with good signal to the detectors and to the cellular network, near power, and crucially not just inside the front door where it's the first thing an intruder reaches. Working that out is part of the free site assessment — it's one of the decisions that most affects how well the system performs.

Yes, and that's a big part of why the hub choice matters. With capacity for up to 200 devices you can start with the essential zones and add detectors, sirens, a doorbell or fire and flood sensors later without changing the hub or the app.
