The Alarm Went Off.
He Ran.
This isn't a demo reel. It's real footage from my own home, the night an intruder tripped my Ajax outdoor sensors — and found out the hard way what happens next.
Unedited. This actually happened.
Just before this clip starts, my Ajax outdoor detector picked up movement at the boundary of the property — before whoever this is had even reached the house.
Security footage, Auckland home, 2026. Unedited — face left as recorded.
From the first trip to him being gone
Detected At The Boundary
My Ajax outdoor sensors — an Outdoor Protect PIR and DualCurtain Outdoor covering the perimeter — picked him up before he was anywhere near the house itself.
Siren Fires Immediately
No delay, no "verify first." The outdoor siren went off the moment the sensor tripped — loud enough to be heard well past my own fence line.
He's Gone In Seconds
You can see it in the footage — he didn't hang around to find out what else was watching. Nothing taken, nothing touched.
Police Called
I called it in straight away. Police took the details and said to call back if he came back — which, for a fast-moving opportunist like this, is usually the honest answer.
The next morning told the real story
This wasn't a one-off. The next morning I found out the same person had broken into a car further up the road, and tampered with another electrician's work van nearby. My place wasn't a random target that got unlucky — it was one stop on a run down the street, and the only one where he left empty-handed.
I posted the footage in our local community Facebook group as a heads-up to the neighbourhood. What I didn't expect was the flood of messages asking what security system this actually was. People want to know their outdoor areas are covered before someone's already at the door — not after.
Not the camera. The outdoor detection.
A camera records what happened. It doesn't stop it. What actually changed the outcome that night was outdoor detection wired to a siren that fires the instant something crosses the line — before a door or window is ever touched.
Detection before entry
Outdoor sensors cover the approach to the house, not just the inside — so the alarm fires while someone's still in the yard, not after they're already in.
A siren that means it
Loud enough, immediately enough, to make staying not worth it. That's the entire point — most break-ins aren't defeated, they're deterred.
You know straight away
The Ajax app pushes an alert to your phone the instant it triggers — you're not finding out from a neighbour, or not at all.
